All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which both reviewers and authors remain anonymous.
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the field. The review process usually takes between 4 to 8 weeks. The Editorial Board makes final decisions based on reviewers’ recommendations.

1. Duties of the Editorial Board

a) Fair Play
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic merit—without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
b) Confidentiality
The editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher.
c) Conflicts of Interest
Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
d) Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which articles are accepted for publication based on the reviewers’ evaluations, relevance to the journal's scope, and legal requirements.

2. Duties of Authors

a) Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cited. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
b) Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is unethical and unacceptable.
c) Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced their work.
d) Authorship of the Paper
Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research should be listed as co-authors. All authors must agree to the final version of the paper.
e) Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing the research.
f) Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data in connection with a paper and should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

3. Duties of Reviewers

a) Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
b) Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments.
c) Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
d) Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships.

4. Allegations of Misconduct

The journal will investigate all allegations of ethical misconduct. In cases of proven misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, falsified data), the article will be retracted, and the relevant institutions may be notified.

5. Retraction Policy

The journal will retract articles in the following cases:
- Clear evidence of unreliable findings
- Plagiarism
- Redundant publication
- Unethical research
Retractions will be clearly identified and linked to the original article.

6. Ethical Oversight

“Acta Militaria Mediaevalia” ensures that all human subject research complies with institutional and national guidelines, including informed consent and ethical board approval where applicable.
